Sometimes you need to quickly remove a photo from a page or post, or delete an image in WordPress entirely. Watch our video to see how this can be done!

How to delete an image in WordPress.

Here’s a summary of what’s covered in the video.

To delete an image from a post, open the post in your visual editor, click on the image, and the click delete icon (“X” on the top right).

To delete an image from WordPress entirely, go to Media > Library. In your media library, locate the image you want to delete and click to open it.

On the bottom right of the screen, click Delete Permanently and click Ok.

A note about deleting images in WordPress

Simply clicking on an image within a post and deleting it only removes it from that post. It will remain on your server this way, allowing you to select it again from the Media Library if you wish to re-use it on another post or page. This saves you from going through the hassle of re-uploading the picture from your desktop.

Thus before permanently deleting an image, ensure you would have no use for that image in the future, and that it is not used in other posts. If it is used, you would end up with posts with broken image links.
